Episode 6 of CBC News’s Spin Cycles. (Via Greenfyre.) Choice quote at 9′ 28′:

Sheldon Rampton: Scientists feel the most objective, hardest truths they’ve got is the ones about which there’s no controversy or little controversy. Journalists, the way that they prove that they’re objective, is ‘We have reported the controversy, we have reported both sides.’ And so, for a journalist reporting a story, there’s something kind of unsettling and unnerving about saying, ‘All of the evidence is on one side of this issue.’

And the other part of the difference of course is that for journalists, controversy is what generates interest and drama and helps attract an audience.
